There are a multitude of guide books out there.

An excellent book to buy for those interested in the highest tops is  "The Top 500 Summits" by Barry K. Smith.  It covers the mountains in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.  It should be available in any decent outdoor shop.

For Scotland, there are books on the Munros, Corbetts, Grahams and Donalds which give routes to all the summits.  The Scottish Mountaineering Club (SMC) publishes very good books on the Munros, the Corbetts and have recently brought out a book which contains both the Grahams and Donalds which is reasonable does not seem to be as good as the Munros and Corbetts books.

For Wales, similar books exist although not quite up to SMC standards.

The Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Peak District and other parts of England have guide books in abundance.  The most famous guide books are those by Wainwright for the Lake District but, unknown to some, he did also publish book for the Yorkshire Dales as well as numerous sketch books including Scotland.

There are guide books for Ireland but they do not seem as good as those for the UK.

For all guidebooks, look before you buy!
